2014 Physics Practicals & SPA
- 2014 Sec 4 Physics SPA Skill 2 Test 2
- Term 3 Week 1: actual dates to be given via email
- Venue: classroom Time: 40 min
- Bring calculator and 30-cm long semi-transparent ruler
- Revise
- Practical Resource notes: PRN 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5
- All practicals on Electricity
- Focus on processing data and drawing conclusions
- Processes and presents relevant data in an appropriate manner [calculations, s.f., graph plotting, gradient]
- Draws conclusions which are consistent with obtained results [e.g. relationship between y and x based on trend/shape of graph]
- You would be given raw data to:
- process (calculate)
- plot graph and determine gradient/intercept
- answer questions (e.g. state conclusion)
- SPA Skill 3 Exercise 1
- SPA Skill 3 Exercise 2
- SPA Skill 3 Exercise 3 updated!
- PROCEDURE key steps [SMRT GC]
- Set up the apparatus as shown in the diagram
- Measure X using ..., Y using ...
- Repeat the measurement of X; repeat steps __ to __ to obtain 5 more readings of ...
- Tabulate the readings of X, Y, ... (list of all the symbols of quantities to be measured or calculated) (Do not draw tables!)
- Graph: Plot a graph of Y against X (Do not draw axes!)
- Conclusion: Using the results and the graph plotted, deduce a suitable conclusion
- Remember the above with the acronym SMRT GC ("graphic calculator")
SPA Skill 3 Exercise 3 Timed Trial (40 min)
- Term 2 Week 5 - Date & Time: You would be informed by your Physics teacher
- SPA Skill 3: Planning
- Planning an investigation
- Producing a procedure for the investigation
- Revise SPA Skill 3 Guidelines (updated version on iTunes U), Exercises 1 and 2.
- Post your questions, comments, ideas etc. below using Add a comment.
- Use Reply to continue a tread of ideas or discussion.
- Remember you are all Reflective, Responsive and Responsible learners.
